My Teacher of Odoo

I always remember my first teacher, and for Odoo, my first teacher was Mantavya Gajjar. His significant influence on spreading Odoo in India is remarkable; there is so much to learn from him.

He does not require any introduction, but for those new to the Odoo ecosystem, I could be a little brief: Fabien Pinckaers (CEO of Odoo) has trusted him to set up the R&D center of Odoo and eventually expand Odoo in India since 2007.

I joined Odoo in 2009 at the Ahmedabad Odoo Office. My batch was small—about 10 enthusiastic freshers—compared to the recent one, where 230+ new Odooers joined in one batch. I'm happy to see how Odoo is growing in India.

He trained all ten of us. He literally spent hours every week teaching us Odoo in those monsoon days of 2009, and he looked too curious to know whether we'd gotten the point or not during training.

Our training had happened on Odoo v5 (At that time, OpenERP).

It was a bit challenging for me at that time to master all the technical aspects of Odoo quickly. Some of those I remember, like how inheritance works, how ORM methods behave, and how to alter their behavior and UI (the Studio app was not born at that time). Still, it was real learning fun for all of us because we also helped each other a lot during our practice sessions.

Thank you, sir, for helping us learn Odoo and showing us what that awesome 'Tiny' 'Open' ERP could do!
